Bach Hair in New York

NEW YORK PRESS: Fashion and beauty are a global phenomenon in the modern world, where international boundaries are less important than shared visions. And fashion as well as beauty will be on stage in celebration of this global vision at Intercoiffure’s Fall Atelier,October 17-19 at The Waldorf Astoria in New York City.  Intercoiffure America/Canada (ICA) has invited Peter Hanmer of Bach Hair Brisbane, Australia, to present a collection as International Guest Artist. His collection will be enhanced by the unconventional fashions of Miss Unkon, an up-and-coming fashion label from Australia.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

“The title of my show is ‘Every Girl,” observes Peter Hanmer. “It’s about creating individuality—transforming basic, everyday cuts into something special. The Miss Unkon brand sets off this concept perfectly.”

Created by designer Courtney Meyer(www.missunkon.com), the brand’s mission is to create a sparkling, positive and youthful experience of fashion that will enhance the lifestyle and expand the world of the girl who wears it. “The Intercoiffure presentation is an amazing opportunity to see how my label works outside the Australian market,” says Meyer.

“Every Girl” will be on stage on Sunday, October 18, at 4 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom at The Waldorf Astoria.

Intercoiffure America/Canada is an association of the beauty industry’s elite—more than

300 salon owners employing more than 27,500 employees.  Intercoiffure members set the creative and quality standards for the hairdressing industry all over the world.

Bach launches Reds for L'oreal Professional

Reds are In! Peter Hanmer and the team at Bach hair launched L’oreal Professional Rubilane Reds new colour range at a fantastic show for other L’oreal Professional salons. Behind the scenes Melita, Tahlia and Sarah were making sure things ran smoothly.

On stage were Peter, Carmel and Julia from Bach hair, doing the latest colours from the Rubilane range, innovative cuts and upstyles.   There were lots of questions for our team at the end of the show and they did a wonderful job sharing ideas with other stylists.

Only a month later we are seeing lots of redheads in magazines – red really is the latest trend and can look beautiful on many, as long as the shade is matched correctly. We opted for red pieces in dark or blonde hair for some of our models, full on red for others, and the results were amazing.

Thank you to our beautiful models who all looked fantastic and performed beautifully.

The show was very well received with L’oreal’s Artistic department commenting that it was one of the best in the country. We appreciate the positive feedback and must say we loved doing it – so much fun!

So congratulations to Peter, Carmel, Julia and the rest of the team for a really successful launch and to Karl for the amazing photos.

Exclusive Offer-Boys Only!

Bach Hair is excited to introduce a new generation of grey blending – a revolutionary colour treatment designed specifically for men. We have a huge male clientele and today’s man wants more than just a cut. He wants products and services which are developed especially for him. Brighten dull hair, fade away grey, refresh your look.

L’oreal Professional Homme is a complete range of products and services designed exclusively for men, a range that is simple, quick and effective. Their new colour blending treatment blends greys without lengthy colouring processes – achieve a natural looking result with less visible grey hair.

Boys only exclusive offer $110- includes all this, even the take home Homme Shampoo!

  • Luxury Shampoo in our massage chairs
  • Creative Cut by a qualified Bach Hair Professional Stylist
  • Colour Blending Treatment by Homme applied at our private basin area in our comfy massage chairs, followed by
  • Relaxing Scalp Massage
  • Take home L’oreal Professional Homme Shampoo prescribed for your hair type.

Homme Shampoo Densité – for fine or thinning hair densifies from root to end leaving the hair with noticeable body and texture. Contrôle – for unruly hair – leaves rebellious hair feeling soft, manageable and easy to style. Tonique – daily use, normal hair – revitalises and restores strength and shine. Pureté – long lasting elimination of dandruff, the scalp is gently cleansed leaving the hair dandruff free from the very first application.

Why a colour just for men? Male hair reacts differently to female hair. You often see men with a colour that looks a bit too warm (or orange) because putting brown hair colour on your hair, especially if you’re a man, doesn’t mean it will end up brown! Male hair throws a lot of red and if it’s coloured incorrectly it can be disastrous.

Bach Hair On-Air!

We’ve had great fun venturing into radio advertising. It was scary at first, as hairdressing is so visual and radio isn’t! They did a great job at B105 though. Camilla does come to us for her hair so we feel honoured that she spoke well of us on air. Dev Mavrick did an awesome job putting a few ads together and making the campaign stretch our puny budget over the entire month of July.

I’m very proud to say our 15 second promo for the B105 ON Line contest (to win 1 of 3 $200.00 vouchers had 1033 entries in one week which is the second highest B105 have ever had to win a prize. GO BACH HAIR.

It goes to show how much value people see in a good hair cut!

Big thanks to Deb Mavrick and the team at B105.

Autumn 2008 Collection

Putting together a collection on our own was such a joy. Our photo shoots usually entail sticking to strict guidelines for competitions or advertising needs. This one was purely about art and learning.

The usual process of story boards, but without any restrictions, made for many animated discussions about visual arts, fashion, hair and architecture. We had dinner, meetings, in salon discussions, lots of research, story boards, hair trials on models and finally doing the actual hair. Then it was makeup, clothing, location and a running sheet that would make a stage manager proud, we finished, on time, with great photos. We shot all of this in 5 hours! (The prep was huge though). It was so much fun and a bit surreal, finally shooting it.

The results, even if I say so myself, are really professional and creative. We hope some magazines will take them up and publish them. Regardless, we get to put them on our very own website for all of YOU to see. Whatever else becomes of this is just the icing on the cake.

Special thanks to our beautiful models, Ian Golding Photography, Annette Caltabiano our makeup artist, Troy Leinster at Artspoken, Tony and Jan for letting us use their beautiful home and garden, and most of all to our talented team at Bach Hair for their inspiration and joyful participation. This was so much fun!

007/08 Ad Campaign Hard Core or Hardware?

Well our 2007 Ad Campaign has kicked off to a great start. Our “Hardcore Stylists” are looking hot!

We had a ball shooting this campaign—with the models being mostly members of our Bach Hair Team. If you’re a member of the Bach Hair family you’ll recognise them as stylists from both Chelmer and Paddington salons.

The power tools were an excellent effect but posed some minor logistical problems—they were really heavy and sharp! But hairdressers are used to manual labour and sharp objects so we got through without any major injuries.

Carmel was the only one who kept using the correct terminology for the equipment and was keen to take the chainsaw home (like she doesn’t own enough power tools). She was dubbed Bob the Builder by those of us not knowledgeable in the hardware dept! She spends far too much time at Bunnings Warehouse for my liking.

We filmed over 2 days and in addition to the ad shots we got some great fun shots of the girls looking very “Charlies Angels”, and others that were looking a bit scary in combat with power tools.

Aaron Tait is such a cool photographer—he had us all very much in the creative groove and it went smoothly. More to the point we had an absolute ball and were sad when the 2 days were over. Although shot in 2 days the process was developed over several months. We met with our managers Paula and Carmel and our Advertising Creative Director, Troy Leinster, from Artspoken, who presented the concepts and story boards to us. We then had meetings and rehearsals with the photographer Aaron Tait. The preparation was what made the shoot go so smoothly.

Thanks to our fantastic Bach Hair family—models Paula, Carmel (Bob the Builder), Genevieve, Julia, Ngare, Emily, Lauren and Brett and our very talented Advertising Creative Director Troy Leinster at Artspoken, extraordinary Makeup artist Annette Caltabiano who does ALL our photographic makeup and photographer Aaron Tait for his excellent photography and kindness. It was an absolute joy.

Look out for our ads in Brisbane News magazine, B Mag, Style and the occasional bus stop!
